Busy weekend....

Last weekend was a busy weekend. We visited my parents so we could both celebrate Father's Day with my dad and so we could all celebrate my oldest son's b-day all together. We played golf, went to a skate park, had a waterballoon war, played board games, ate ribs cooked on the grill, opened b-day presents and ate cake and icecream. We had a great time. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

We did a quick shoot of the son of a friend of ours. His name is Gabe. The fact was he was more interested in playing at the playground then in my camera. We still managed to get a few good shots. Of course my boys wanted in on the action. My youngest loves being the model and my oldest wanted to be behind a camera on his own so I gave him my backup camera and away we went. Hope you enjoy these Katrina!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to do a fun and creative "Trash the Dress" shoot with Tina.

What may you ask is "Trash the Dress." Well, instead of buying the wedding dress and then letting it sit in the closet for the next 50 years, why not pull it out and have a creative photo session in some crazy, creative locations. The "TTD" shoot can be done weeks or months after your wedding when you are no longer worried about getting it dirty.

Well, Tina, I had a blast during our session and I think we got some great images that you're going to love. I can't wait to build your album. Here are a few "Sneak Peak" images......

Last weekend was the Strawberry Festival here in Crawfordsville. We took the boys and enjoyed the food, music and games. Here is a picture of the boys playing "Guitar Here" at one of the booths. Don't they look intense.

We went on a little family excursion the other day. I have a '93 Jeep Wrangler and we like to pile into it with some snacks and drive the back roads discovering new things. Well, we found an old train trestle and got out and explored around the base of it. While we were looking around I grabbed the quick picture of my youngest son, Trey. He loves the camera. He's always ready to pose for me. Maybe one day he'll be one of America's Top Models.

Show Choir Concert

Last weekend I had the opportunity to take pictures at the Carroll H.S. show choir invitational. It was a long day but I got to see some incredible performances. These kids really work hard and put on an amazing show. There were 6-8 schools represented. I was shooting for a friend who owns Bella Vita Studios in Ft. Wayne. Here is a shot from a recent wedding. I love the deep spiritual significance of a wedding. Two lives becoming one. A commitment made before God and man. The joining of two lives. Romance, love, passion......sometimes I get a little sappy. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic at heart. I love this shot because of the deep significance of the marriage vows. Last post for tonight. I did a shoot for our friends the Lynn's. (Thier younger kids are below)., We had a blast. The best part was that they brought ribs over so we got to pig out before we did the shoot. Mmmmmmm good!

I did a family session the other night and they have the cutest kids. The two below are brother and sister. The little girl, Clohe, would not sit still. She was a real handful and her brother Gabe was a real ham.

My little "Leading Man"

Well, he isn't actually the leading man but in my book he'll always be the most important person on the stage. My son Gavyn tried out and was cast in a play at our local community theater. Last fall we were downtown during an art promotion in our city (the shop windows were filled with local artist works and we took a self guided tour) and when we passed the theater Gavyn saw that "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe" was playing in the spring. He kept his eyes and ears open and discovered that the tryouts were last week. Soooo, we took him to the tryouts were he read for several parts. In the picture below you can see him reading on stage. He's the second from the left. He wanted a lead role but he got a supporting cast role. He's a mouse. Not glitzy but we all start somewhere. He is so pumped. It's a big commitment for him over the next 6 weeks but he is ready to give it all he's got. When the time comes your all invited to the play it is the first two weekends of March.

I don't believe that I have introduced you to my family. Over the Christmas break I took a family picture in our living room. (When I could get the boys to hold still). So, let me introduce you to the family. There is of course me, (I'm the big ugly guy), my wife Julie and my sons Gavyn on the left and Trey on the right.....ain't we good look'in!!!

New Logo...

Hey boys and girls. I know I haven't been updating well in the last two weeks. Been crazy busy. I've formally launched the business. Lot of awesome stuff going on. We will be doing a complete overhaul of the website, we will do an official launch next month along with some sweet specials. Make sure to check in often and keep up with all the changes. We will also be doing a contest soon with some give aways. Can't tell you all about it now, (Top Secret), but we'll be pumping it up soon. In the mean time here is the new logo. Coming to an end....

I hate it when the Christmas season comes to an end. I love Christmas. I love the lights, the sounds, the songs, the smells. We always keep our tree up until after New Years. So, the tree will be coming down. It's so bitter sweet. I'm excited that a new year has come but I'm sad that the holidays are over. Well, I wish all of you a safe and happy New Year! May 2009 be your greatest year yet!

(Here is a quick pic of our tree that I took on Christmas eve. The big present on the left is a set of golf clubs for the boys.....now I've always got a partner...score!!!)

A Get Together

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of getting together with about a dozen photographers for a day of shooting and sharing. I had a great time. We gathered in Delaware, OH. So, my friend Autumn was taking some pictures of her friend Hayley and her awsome little pup Govenor when who should show up with there camera.....no, not Santa. Me! Hayley was gracious enough to let me take a few pictures of the two of them. It was probably 20 degrees out and we were all freezing, expecially Govenor, he was sooooo cold. Let me introduce you to Ben. A handsome little one year old. I had the privleage of shooting a bunch of shots last night of the little cutie. He was so happy but he didn't want to sit still. He ended crawling and wobbely walking around the house. He was constantly wanting to put things in his mouth. We had a great time.

I thought I'd share some photos from my trip to Yosemite this summer. My brother was married on the river bank of the Mercer river under the "Yosemite Falls". These are just two of my favorite of the park. I only had a few short hours on my visit. I would love to go back to spend a few days. Enjoy.

One of my great joys in photography is the pleasure I find in documenting the life of my own kids. I love being a Dad. They grow and change so quickly. Almost daily I pull out my camera and fill it full of memories of my children. One day soon they'll be grown and gone but I'll still have the treasure of my photos to remember the wonderful days of their childhood. That's one of the reasons I love to work with folks to create priceless works of art of their kids. It's more than a snap shot, it's capturing memories and documenting life!!!

ABOUT ME

What do I say about me? Well, I love life. I love my family. I love God and I love photography. I guess that sums me up in a nutshell.

I am most comfortable when I'm having fun. If you get to know me at all you'll know that I love to laugh. I work hard to enjoy myself no matter what I'm doing. Most of the time I succeed.

So why do photography? Well, I have had a passion for it my whole life. While in High School I built my own black and white darkroom and shot for the yearbook. I also volunteered for a local photographer. I didn't get payed a dime but I did get extra rolls of film for free. Then while in college I took on the yearbook again for a year. For several year photography was just a side hobby. Then it became a main hobby. Finally it became an obsession until now I am taking it to the next level.

I've been doing fun and creative photo shoots for several years. Taking classes. Learning from the Internet and developing my skill and creative eye. I can't wait to get a chance to help you create a work of art!

What else about me?

-I love hanging and playing with my wife Julie and our two boys Gavyn and Trey
-I love the outdoors...hiking, fishing, using my canoe and camping.
-I love technology...computers, video editing, etc.
